Student answer (Band 6.0)

People have different opinion on whether students in school should Taught history as a most important subject or teaching them subjects like science and technology is more beneficial. while both perspective have their own merits, I believe that science and technology based education is more important. This essay will discuss both viewpoints before explaining my position.

On the one hand, some people argue that history should be taught be school students. The main reason behind this, it will help to build strong cultural understanding , history of their own country. Furthermore it will encourage student to take interest in national art and many significant eras. For example, some school in Pakistan take students to museums that helps students to learn more about the art , culture and then teachers give them assignments based on that visit. Consequently, supporters of this view believe that its help students to build strong knowledge of their own country.

On the the other hand , other believe that science and technological education should be taught to students in school. One major advantage of this approach is that students will able to learn more practical skills which will help them get skill full jobs. For instant if student will learn science and Ai skills from younger age they are more likely to build it a profession. I find this argument more convincing because it provide students knowledge according the current requirements of jobs and the way digital tool and agentic Ai is developing its very important for the youth to learn them.

In conclusion, although history provide knowledge about culture and art which is important. I believe that science and Ai based educational is more beneficial for the younger students in school because it provide valuable skills that are important in the current era of development and also help full in the longer period.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both views and state a consistent preference for science and technology, so the response covers the main parts of the task. The history paragraph gives relevant reasons—cultural understanding and interest in national art—and the Pakistan museum example helps illustrate this view. Your position is also supported by the argument that practical skills can improve students’ employment prospects. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: for instance, the link between learning AI at a young age and building a profession needs a clearer explanation or a specific example. The conclusion repeats your view but could draw the comparison between the subjects more directly. This covers the task well overall, with some ideas needing further development.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The progression from the history argument to the science and technology argument is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the organisation explicit. Examples are generally placed alongside the ideas they support. To make the flow more natural, reduce formulaic transitions and strengthen links between individual claims. For example, the move from practical skills to “skill full jobs” and then to current job requirements could be connected through a clearer explanation of how those skills meet employers’ needs. Some references, such as “its” in the history paragraph, are also unclear, which slightly weakens cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “cultural understanding,” “practical skills,” “current requirements,” and “digital tool.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and terms such as “agentic AI” show an attempt to discuss contemporary technology. However, inaccurate word forms, spelling, and collocations are noticeable and sometimes make the phrasing awkward: “skill full jobs,” “for instant,” “build it a profession,” and “science and Ai based educational” are examples. Some wording is also repetitive, particularly “important” and “students.” Aim to use common academic collocations accurately and check spelling and word forms. This would make your vocabulary more precise and natural while preserving the relevant range already present.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a concession in “although history provide knowledge…” and a conditional example beginning “if student will learn…”. The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but some errors in sentence structure, verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation remain. For example, “People have different opinion” has a number-agreement error, while “history should be taught be school students” has a faulty passive construction. In “it provide students knowledge,” the subject–verb agreement and sentence pattern are inaccurate. The conditional sentence would be clearer as “If students learn science and AI skills from a young age, they may be more likely to pursue careers in these fields.” Review these patterns and proofread sentence boundaries and capitalization.
