Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You discuss both perspectives: history is linked to learning from past leaders, while science and technology are connected to economic development and communication. You also indicate a preference for technology in the conclusion. However, the discussion is uneven: the history argument is brief, and the final paragraph focuses on technology without clearly weighing the two subjects or explaining why it should take priority. Examples, such as studying a previous president’s financial decisions, are relevant but remain general and are not fully explained. The response therefore addresses the task only partially, with ideas that need further development. Make your position explicit in the introduction and develop each side with a specific example before reaching a clear, reasoned conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an identifiable structure, moving from an introduction to discussion of the two subjects and then a conclusion. Connectors such as “On the other hand,” “Moreover,” and “Therefore” help signal relationships between ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the history discussion shifts from past leaders to current hardship, while the technology paragraph moves among digital devices, communication, and developing countries without clearly linking each point. The opening “Whereas” also creates an incomplete contrast rather than a well-formed sentence. Paragraphing and linking are present, but some connections feel mechanical or imprecise. Organise each body paragraph around one main claim, then explain and illustrate it in a clear sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “development,” “digital era,” “economy,” and “communication,” which helps convey the general subject. There are also attempts at more formal expressions, such as “gives insight” and “significant to focus.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, making some ideas difficult to interpret. For example, “social economics” is unclear in context, “legendary people” does not accurately describe the people studied in history, and “the hardships of the social” is not idiomatic. Spelling errors such as “signicant,” “circumtances,” and “televesion” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise subject vocabulary and check spelling and natural word combinations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a sentence beginning “because” and a contrast introduced by “On the other hand.” However, the range is limited, and complex constructions are often faulty. The opening “Whereas, Science and Technology discusses…” is a fragment, while “the technology are useful” shows subject–verb disagreement. Other examples include “It development and enhance” and “can help to… and can lift,” where verb forms and sentence construction are not controlled. Articles, plurals, and prepositions also need attention, as in “in the third world country.” These errors sometimes make the intended meaning hard to follow. Practise building complete sentences with one clear subject and correctly matched verbs, then check agreement and sentence boundaries.
