Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the world of today ,no doubt science and technology play a significant role but one should not ignore history. Although world is progressed too much in the field of science and technology but still history has some beneficial impacts in our lives .

History is all about the work , progress and

facilities provided by our natives or forefathers. Modern people do not know much about the great historical figures of their own country land . They are totally dependent on technology and for them only science significant. If we ignore history and kept it as a minor , it may be a grat disadvantage . Because by this we are not able to know about the struggles of the past. for example , Pakistani peole know very little about arfa karim ,who made her name in the world of software and put all her efforts to keep Pakistan at the top of all. There must be proper lecture in all institutions, so that evet person is well aware of history of his nation .

secondly, the world has advanced too much in the technology and science. by using these our lives become more peaceful and make them comfortable. for instance, the use of electronic devices is a part of evey home today. At most we are totally dependent on science which may be perilous in future because we mist become lazy .

In conclusion , I support both ideas but to a certain limit . without science we shall not able to become successful but we should not ignore history and former leaders and we must have proper knowledge. from my perspective history and science both collectively make one nation strong and danger free .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides of the discussion and give a position in the conclusion: science is necessary, but history should not be ignored. The point that history helps people understand past struggles is relevant, and the example of Arfa Karim gives the discussion a specific reference. However, the two views are not developed evenly. The benefits of science and technology are mainly described as making life comfortable, with little explanation of why these subjects may be more important in the modern world. The history example also needs a clearer link to what students can learn from studying the past. Develop each main reason with explanation and a directly relevant example, and state your position more clearly from the introduction onward.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has an introduction, separate discussion paragraphs and a conclusion, so the reader can identify its broad structure. You also use signposts such as “Although,” “for example” and “In conclusion.” However, progression within and between paragraphs is not consistently clear. The first body paragraph moves from historical figures to dependence on technology and then to Arfa Karim without fully connecting these points. The second paragraph begins “secondly,” although it introduces the other side of the debate rather than a second reason for the same view. Some linking is mechanical, and punctuation and paragraph openings make transitions harder to follow. Organise each body paragraph around one clear view, then use linking phrases to show how each explanation and example supports it.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “historical figures,” “struggles of the past,” “electronic devices” and “dependent on science.” These choices help communicate the subject, and the meaning is generally recoverable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or imprecise, such as “history has some beneficial impacts,” “our natives or forefathers,” and “keep Pakistan at the top of all.” Spelling errors, including “peole,” “evety” and “mist,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise academic phrasing and check spelling carefully. For example, explain that history can help students understand national development, while science and technology can address contemporary problems.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some complex structures, including “Although … but still …” and “If we ignore history …,” and the overall meaning can usually be understood. However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty. For example, “Although world is progressed too much … but still history has” combines incompatible linking structures and uses an incorrect verb form. There are also recurring problems with articles, agreement and sentence boundaries: “Modern people do not know much” is followed by “only science significant,” while “we shall not able to become successful” is missing a verb form. Capitalisation and comma spacing are inconsistent. Practise building accurate sentences with one clear main clause, then add subordinate clauses and check verb forms, articles and punctuation.
