Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the task by describing the changes in the sports centre. However, the report lacks a clear overview of the main trends, which is essential for a high score in Task 1. While you mention some changes, the description is somewhat fragmented and lacks a cohesive summary of the overall transformation. Some details are inaccurate, such as the reference to a '25cm long pool' (likely a typo for 25m) and the confusion regarding the location of the changing rooms. To improve, ensure you group information logically—perhaps by comparing the current layout to the future layout more systematically—and provide a clear, concise overview in the introduction or conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical flow is often disrupted by awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as 'coming to the adjoining illustration' or 'in subsequently years'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the spatial changes. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus, such as one paragraph for the current layout and another for the proposed changes, rather than jumping between them.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are several spelling errors ('canter' for centre, 'searing' for seating, 'charging' for changing) and word choice issues that impede clarity. You rely on basic descriptors and struggle to use precise terminology for describing spatial layouts or changes. To reach a higher band, focus on learning specific vocabulary related to maps and trends, such as 'relocated', 'expanded', 'demolished', 'constructed', and 'adjacent'. Proofreading for basic spelling errors is also essential, as these frequent mistakes distract from the content of your report.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with article usage, verb tense consistency, and sentence construction (e.g., 'there will be the area of the gym will be increased'). Many sentences are poorly formed, which makes the text difficult to read. While there is an attempt at complex structures, they are often inaccurate. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence patterns and subject-verb agreement. Ensure that you use future tenses consistently when discussing the redevelopment plans and avoid redundant phrasing like 'there will be... will be'.
