IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The plans below show the layout of a university’s sports centre now, and how it will look after redevelopment.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 7.0)

The illustration shows the comparison of a university sports facility at present and in the future plans.

Major changes were made to the facility in the newly devised plan. One of them is the outdoor facility which got a huge makeover. And secondly, the addition of shops and cafes.

First of all, the outdoor court on the north-west side got swapped with the leisure pool plus two changing compartments with one positioned on the west -eastern side of the pool. Moreover, the court situated on the north-eastern side of the Centre got replaced with a big sports hall and dance studios positioned just next to the hall. Another point to consider is that the gym got bigger with the future plans. subsequently, the reception remains on the southern side of the structure with no changes at all. Furthermore, a sports shop to lend sports equipment or to sell new items related to it seems to be just nest to the reception on its left side. Finally the last change added to the whole picture is the cafe next to the entrance of the center on the southern side.
