Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have identified some main features of the sports centre, the description is quite basic and lacks a clear overview or a structured comparison between the two layouts. The analysis is fragmented, and some details, such as the mention of 'safety', are not supported by the provided visual information. To improve, ensure you provide a clear summary of the overall changes and group related information logically to cover all parts of the task more comprehensively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay lacks a clear logical progression. The paragraphs are poorly defined, and the transition between the 'present' and 'future' states is abrupt. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas; sentences are often short and disjointed, making the text feel like a list of observations rather than a cohesive report. To improve, use linking words such as 'whereas', 'in contrast', 'furthermore', and 'subsequently' to guide the reader through the changes and ensure each paragraph has a clear thematic focus.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'area', 'made', and 'attached'. There are also some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'lecture pool' (likely referring to a 'leisure pool') and 'totally centre is made indoor'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe the spatial changes effectively. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise terminology related to architecture and layout, such as 'expanded', 'relocated', 'converted', or 'integrated'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response relies almost exclusively on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles ('the' reception area), incorrect verb forms ('extend' instead of 'extended'), and punctuation issues. Subject-verb agreement is also inconsistent. The lack of complex sentence structures limits the grammatical range. To improve, focus on using a variety of sentence types, including relative clauses and passive voice, which are particularly useful for describing changes in a layout, for example: 'The gym is to be expanded to accommodate more equipment.'
