Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the redevelopment plan, identifying key additions like the leisure pool, dance studios, and sports hall. However, the description of the layout is somewhat imprecise. For example, referring to the 'west south end' and 'east south end' is confusing, and the claim that the 'older one remains at same place' regarding the pool is factually incorrect based on the provided diagrams, which show the original pool being replaced or repurposed. While the overview is present, the analysis lacks the precision required for a higher band. The response would benefit from a more accurate spatial description and a clearer distinction between what is being added, moved, or removed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. Cohesive devices such as 'Additionally', 'furthermore', and 'despite this' are used to link ideas. However, the use of 'despite this' is inappropriate here, as it does not logically contrast with the preceding information. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final sentence where 'these' is used awkwardly to introduce the list of unchanged features. Paragraphing is present, but the flow between sentences could be smoother to improve the overall progression of information.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to describe the changes. There are some repetitive phrases, such as 'new sports centre' and 'constructed'. Some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'various kind of new facilities' (should be 'kinds') and 'respective to their places'. While the range is sufficient to convey the main points, it lacks the sophistication and precision in collocation required for a higher band. Spelling is generally accurate, but the overall lexical control is limited to basic descriptive language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('The given maps illustrates', 'the new sports centre have', 'The administration also have'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas in run-on sentences. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the response from reaching a higher band. A greater focus on proofreading for basic agreement and sentence boundaries would significantly improve the clarity of the writing.
