IELTS Writing Task 1 question
The plans below show the layout of a university’s sports centre now, and how it will look after redevelopment.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The maps illustrate the layout of university sport center at present and how it will look after renovation.
Overall, all sport center become much larger and modern after redevelopment. While the gym, swimming pool and reception will remain unchanged, the outdoor courts will be replaced by several new facilities, including a leisure pool, sports hall, dance studios, cafe and sports shop.
To begin with, on western side of sport center several significant changes are planned. The outdoor courts will be removed and replaced by a large leisure pool. In addition, a changing room and a sports shop will be built at the south-west corner of the complex. Meanwhile, the existing gym, 25-meter swimming pool and reception area in the center will remain unchanged.
Moreover, On the eastern side, the sports center will also undergo major changes. The out door sport will be removed and make a way for new sports hall, to the east sport hall two dance studios will be constructed. Furthermore, a café and an additional changing room will be built in the south-east corner, providing more convenience for visitors.
