Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the task by describing the current and future layouts of the sports centre. However, the overview is weak and lacks a clear summary of the most significant changes, such as the expansion of the pool and the addition of new facilities. The description of the layout is somewhat disorganized, and some details are repetitive (e.g., mentioning changing rooms multiple times without clear spatial context). To improve, ensure that the main trends—such as the expansion of facilities and the addition of new amenities—are highlighted clearly in the introduction or overview, and provide a more structured, logical progression of the spatial changes.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow between sentences is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical or incorrect, such as the awkward phrasing 'as well as' at the end of a sentence. Referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the spatial changes described. To improve, use a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'in contrast', 'subsequently') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus, such as grouping all current features together before moving to the future developments.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying heavily on simple descriptors like 'big' and 'small'. There are several instances of awkward word choice and incorrect collocations, such as 'In present' instead of 'At present' and 'the space is no big' instead of 'the space is not large'. The range of vocabulary is limited, which restricts the ability to describe the changes with precision. To improve, focus on learning specific vocabulary related to maps and diagrams, such as 'relocated', 'expanded', 'constructed', and 'adjacent to', and work on using more precise adjectives to describe size and location.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The plans illustrates'), article usage (e.g., 'in west and East corner'), and sentence structure (e.g., 'there is no any leisure pool'). The range of grammatical structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. Complex structures are attempted but are often inaccurate. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically the use of articles, prepositions of place, and consistent verb tenses when describing future plans versus current states.
