IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The plans below show the layout of a university’s sports centre now, and how it will look after redevelopment.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The two maps illustrate the present view of a university's sports centre and how it will look after the redevelopment in the future.

Overall, the main central area remained the same, while both outdoor courts will be redeveloped entirely.

At present, there is a reception at the South entrance, gym at the North, seating on the left and changing room on the right side of a pool which is in the middle. There are two outdoor courts on the East and West of the centre.

In the future, the left sided outdoor court will be converted into a leisure pool and just below it there will be a changing room alongside a sports shop. The right sided outdoor court will be changed to a sports hall on the side of the seating. There will be a Cafe at the right side of the main entrance and another changing room in the corner. The gym area is extended to the East side and just beside it there is a dance studio.
