IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The plans below show the layout of a university’s sports centre now, and how it will look after redevelopment.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The two maps depict the current layout of a sports centre of a university, and how it will look following redevelopment.

Overall, the area occupied by aa university’s sports centre, as well as the location of 25m pool, gym, changing room, seating place, and reception will remain same, however, several other changes will be made in the future.

Several new features will be added including, construction of a big leisure pool in the west of the 25m former pool, where outdoor courts are located, currently. In addition, area used for outdoor courts in the east will be replaced with two dance studios, and space in front of studios will be utilized for construction of a sports hall. Moreover, two more changing rooms will be built, one in the in the east along with a cafe, and an other in the west of the sports centre, with a sports shop in front of it. However, the position of Gym will remain same, but its area will be slightly reduced.
