IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The plans below show the layout of a university’s sports centre now, and how it will look after redevelopment.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The given plans illustrate how university sports centre will change from now after renovation.

Overall, the new project will include many facilities for students such as pool, sports hall, extension of gym, new sports shop, snack area, dance studio and changing room.

In the present sport center there are two outdoor courts on west and east side, in the middle there is a pool of 25 m and on the right side there is a changing room and on the left seats; gym is on the north side of pool and reception in the south.

The new plan will replace west outdoor courts with a leisure pool and there will be new changing room just below the pool in the south side and another changing room on the opposite corner. The changing room and the seats will remain unchanged while the gym will be bigger. The new sports hall will be constructed beside the seating area and there will two dance studio for those who love music. The sports shop will be just on the left side of entrance and cafè on the right.
