The plans below show the layout of a university’s sports centre now, and how it will look after redevelopment.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

the given two maps illustrates the current layout of university sports center and the proposed changes following redevelopment.

overall, the center will expanded to include outdoor areas, and a wide range of new facilities will be added. the 25m pool, gym, changing rooms, reception and seating area will all remain, but the two outdoor courts will be replaced.

at present, the main building contains a gym at the north, a reception at the south entrance, changing rooms on the west side, and seating on the east side, a 25m pool located in the center. outside the building, there are outdoor courts to the east and west.

according to the future plans, the building will be extended to incorporate both outdoor areas. to the west, a leisure pool will be constructed, with a changing room and a sports shop added to the south. to the east, a sports hall will be built with two dance studios above it. additional new facilities include a cafe in the south-east and an extra changing room in the south-west. the central facilities such as 25 m pool, gym, reception original changing room and seating will be remained.
