The plans below show the layout of a university’s sports centre now, and how it will look after redevelopment.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The plans illustrate both the current structure of an athletic centre in a university, and a blueprint of it after future improvements.

Overall, the university is planning to enhance the present sports centre by adding a leisure pool , with more additional changing rooms, and making new space for dance activities, in addition to a hall, instead of the outdoor courts.

In more detail, it is planned that the outdoor courts on the western side of the original centre will be used to add a new leisure pool along with new changing space. Moreover, the upgrade plan shows that more space will be taken by the gym situated on the north of the 25 meters pool.

Additionally, the eastern outdoor courts are believed to be transformed into a sports hall instead, alongside two dance studios on its left. Furthermore, a second changing room will be added at the southeast of the new sports hall, with a small cafe on its corner, and a new sports shop next to it, on the lest side od the reception.
