Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the redevelopment, such as the expansion of the gym and the addition of the cafe and dance studios. However, the description is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear, analytical overview. While the main changes are identified, the spatial relationships are described in a confusing manner, making it difficult for the reader to visualize the layout without constant reference to the original image. The summary is present but lacks the sophistication required for higher bands, as it focuses on listing changes rather than synthesizing the information into a coherent report of the transformation.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression is hindered by repetitive and somewhat awkward transitions, such as 'To begin with, first of all'. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and occasionally inaccurate, such as the phrase 'these all changes'. Referencing is often unclear, as the text struggles to link the new features to their specific locations effectively. While there is an overall attempt at structure, the lack of smooth transitions and clear signposting makes the flow of information feel disjointed and repetitive.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic verbs like 'build', 'construct', and 'open'. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'lock' instead of 'look' and 'it will made' instead of 'it will be made'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe the spatial changes with precision. To improve, you should focus on using more varied verbs for describing changes (e.g., 'transformed', 'relocated', 'converted') and more precise prepositions to describe the layout of the sports centre.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are persistent issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'Gym area will be extend' instead of 'The gym area will be extended', and incorrect passive voice constructions like 'it will made'. Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly regarding capitalization and sentence boundaries. A greater focus on mastering basic sentence construction and passive voice forms is necessary to improve the accuracy of your writing.
