Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to describe the main features of the maps, such as the pool and the new facilities like the dance studio and cafe. However, the description is quite superficial and lacks a clear overview or a structured comparison. The information is presented in a somewhat disorganized manner, making it difficult to follow the changes clearly. While the main features are mentioned, the lack of precise spatial descriptions and the failure to clearly contrast the 'before' and 'after' states mean that the task is only partially addressed. To improve, ensure you provide a clear summary of the most significant changes and group information logically.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks clear paragraphing, which makes the progression of ideas difficult to follow. There is a lack of effective cohesive devices; while some connectors like 'moreover' and 'on the other hand' are used, they are often placed incorrectly or used to link unrelated ideas. The referencing is also unclear, particularly when describing the layout, which makes it hard for the reader to visualize the changes. The text feels like a series of loosely connected sentences rather than a cohesive report. Improving the use of linking words and organizing the response into distinct paragraphs (Introduction, Overview, and Body paragraphs) is essential.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'rooms', 'map', and 'add'. There are several spelling errors, such as 'loyat' (layout), 'dipicts' (depicts), 'studi' (studio), and 'resception' (reception). The word choice is often imprecise, such as 'accurate same' instead of 'remains the same' or 'identical'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information with precision or sophistication. To reach a higher band, you should focus on learning specific vocabulary related to describing maps and changes, such as 'relocated', 'expanded', 'constructed', and 'remained unchanged'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede clarity. There are significant issues with subject-verb agreement ('there is two maps', 'pool are... accurate same'), sentence structure (run-on sentences), and punctuation. The use of articles and prepositions is also inconsistent. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with errors. There is no evidence of complex sentence structures. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring that each sentence has a clear subject and verb, and practice the correct use of articles and pluralization.
