Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the task by identifying the main features of the sports centre redevelopment. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you mention the expansion of the outdoor courts and the addition of a leisure pool, dance studios, and a cafe, the description lacks precision regarding the spatial layout. For instance, stating that the area 'will emerge' is unclear, and the comparison between the present and future could be more detailed. You have successfully highlighted the key changes, but the overview is slightly repetitive and lacks a clear, analytical summary of the most significant transformations. To improve, focus on grouping features more logically and providing more specific details about the changes in size and location.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the phrase 'in the university of sports center' is awkward, and the transition 'automatically the area will increase' does not logically follow the previous sentence. There are also issues with referencing; the term 'some things are same in both center' is vague. While there is an overall progression, the flow between ideas is occasionally disrupted by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing. Improving the variety and accuracy of your linking words and ensuring clear pronoun reference would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate to convey the main points, but it lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. You rely on basic descriptors like 'small', 'same', and 'new'. There are also several word-choice errors, such as 'modernize' (which should be 'modernised') and 'besides' (which is used incorrectly to mean 'next to'). The phrase 'in present time' is also non-standard. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to architectural changes, such as 'expanded', 'relocated', 'integrated', or 'facility upgrades', and ensure that your word forms are used correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there is a high frequency of grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('plans below illustrates', 'two dance studio will be constructed'), incorrect verb tenses ('changes will be happened'), and missing articles ('on the entrance'). The sentence structure is often repetitive, and the misuse of prepositions ('on the opposite of the entrance') affects the accuracy of your descriptions. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice, which is essential for describing plans and processes in Academic Task 1.
