Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have identified the main features of the redevelopment, the analysis is quite superficial. You mention the changes to the outdoor courts and the addition of the leisure pool, but the description lacks the necessary detail and comparative depth required for a high score. The summary is underdeveloped, and the failure to reach the minimum length means the task is only partially addressed. To improve, ensure you provide a more comprehensive overview of all changes and include specific comparisons between the 'now' and 'future' layouts to fully satisfy the task requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into short paragraphs, but the flow is disjointed. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'Moving further ahead', but they are used somewhat mechanically. The paragraphing is not fully effective, as the ideas within the paragraphs are not logically grouped or developed. The transition between the current state and the future state is abrupt, making the overall progression difficult to follow. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus, such as grouping all 'additions' in one paragraph and 'removals' in another.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'remain same' and 'build', which do not demonstrate the range needed for a higher band. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'at west side' (should be 'on the west side') and 'it is vivid' (which is not a natural collocation in this context). To improve, try to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to maps and changes, such as 'demolished', 'expanded', 'relocated', or 'transformed'. Expanding your range of descriptive adjectives and adverbs will also help improve the quality of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that hinder clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('the outdoor courts is', 'the several amenities is replace') and incorrect verb tenses or passive voice constructions ('it will replace by', 'sports hall also build'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and the attempt at a complex structure ('Not only but also...') is grammatically incorrect. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and the correct formation of the passive voice, which is essential for describing map changes. Proofreading for these fundamental errors will significantly improve your accuracy.
