Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response attempts to describe the changes, but it fails to provide a clear, objective summary of the main features. The description is highly subjective, using inappropriate language such as 'dramatically was boring' and 'looks amazing'. Furthermore, the final paragraph discusses the impact on students and the country, which is irrelevant to the task of describing a physical layout. The report lacks a clear overview and fails to make meaningful comparisons between the 'now' and 'future' plans. The information provided is disorganized and does not accurately reflect the visual data presented in the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks logical organization. It is written as a single block of text without clear paragraphing to separate the introduction, the description of the current layout, and the proposed changes. Cohesive devices are largely absent or misused, making the progression of ideas difficult to follow. For example, the transition 'Now we turning to future plan' is grammatically incorrect and does not effectively signal a shift in time. The lack of clear referencing makes it hard for the reader to identify which part of the sports center is being described at any given time.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and often inappropriate for an academic report. The student uses informal and subjective language such as 'amazing', 'enjoyment', and 'impressed', which are not suitable for describing architectural plans. There are also significant issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'sport uses' instead of 'sports equipment' and 'beside a sports hall' used in a confusing manner. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the necessary technical details of the layout, and the errors in word formation frequently impede clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often distort the meaning. Sentence structures are often fragmented or run-on, such as 'In west and west outdoor courts are.' There is a lack of control over basic syntax, including missing articles, incorrect verb tenses, and awkward phrasing. The attempt to use complex sentences is largely unsuccessful, resulting in errors that make the text difficult to parse. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with misused commas and a lack of proper sentence boundaries throughout the response.
