Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers the main features of the sports centre redevelopment well. You have identified the key changes, such as the extension of the gym, the addition of new facilities like the pool and cafe, and the removal of the outdoor courts. The overview provides a clear summary of the transformation. However, the report could be improved by being more precise with spatial descriptions; for example, stating 'at the sides' is vague. Additionally, ensure that all comparisons are clearly linked to the original layout to fully satisfy the requirement to report main features and make comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and a body paragraph detailing the changes. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the summary from the specific details. Cohesive devices such as 'During the observation', 'alongside', and 'next to' are used to guide the reader through the spatial layout. However, the transition between the overview and the body paragraph is slightly abrupt, and some referencing is a bit mechanical. Improving the variety of linking words would help the flow feel more natural and sophisticated.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'redevelopment', 'demolished', and 'convenience'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'drastic changes in the future plans' (it would be more natural to say 'drastic changes to the layout'). The phrase 'during the observation' is also slightly unnatural in this context. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise collocations related to architectural changes and spatial positioning, such as 'situated in the northern quadrant' or 'undergoing a significant expansion'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'it's redevelopment' (should be 'its'), 'We can see a drastic changes' (should be 'a drastic change' or 'drastic changes'), and 'except new facilities will be added' (which is an incorrect use of 'except'). Punctuation is generally functional, though there are some issues with capitalization (e.g., 'We') and missing articles. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of possessive pronouns.
