Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the sports centre redevelopment, such as the addition of the cafe, sports hall, and leisure pool. However, the description is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear overview or summary of the most significant changes. The reporting of information is occasionally inaccurate; for instance, the student claims there is 'no changing' in the centre, despite the plans showing that changing rooms are present in both layouts. The response identifies the main features but fails to synthesize them into a coherent summary, which limits the score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is repetitive and sometimes misused, such as the phrase 'After that their will be also'. The transition between describing the current state and the future state is abrupt. The referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the spatial layout of the centre. Paragraphing is present but does not effectively group related information, such as separating the east and west side developments logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are several spelling errors, such as 'enterance' instead of 'entrance' and 'chaning' instead of 'changing'. The range of vocabulary is basic and lacks the precision required for describing diagrams or spatial layouts. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of variety in descriptive language (e.g., using 'will be' repeatedly) prevents the response from reaching a higher band. More precise verbs like 'replaced by', 'converted into', or 'extended' would improve the quality significantly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'The university sports centre have' and 'The strategy below show'. Punctuation is inconsistent, and there are errors in article usage and sentence structure. The range of structures is limited, relying mostly on simple sentences with 'there will be'. While the meaning is usually understandable, the frequency of errors is high, which is characteristic of the Band 5 level.
