IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The plans below show the layout of a university’s sports centre now, and how it will look after redevelopment.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The diagrams compare the layouts of a university sports building currently and how it will look like after renovation.

Overall, the west and east outdoor courts will be combined with the main building, creating one huge sports center. Additionally, new rooms, such as dance studios and changing rooms, will be added. Conversely, the current sports center's room are mostly unchanged in the new floor plan.

There are no significant changes toward most of the current sports center layout with only the gym being expanded. The other facilities (reception, pool, changing room, seating) are remained unchanged. However, the east outdoor court will be repurposed for new sports hall, two dance studios, the east changing room, and cafe.

The west outdoor field is planned to be used to build a new leisure pool, changing room, and sports shop. The new leisure pool will takes up most of the space; it is going to have a little island in it. Furthermore, it will connect with the west changing room directly, which is next to the sports shop.
