Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers all key features of the plans, including the new leisure pool, sports hall, dance studios, and the expansion of the gym and entrance. You successfully identify the main changes and make relevant comparisons between the current and future layouts. The overview is clear and highlights the general trend of modernization. However, the response could be improved by ensuring more precise descriptions of locations; for example, stating 'both side of entry gate' is slightly vague. Overall, you have addressed the requirements of the task well, providing a clear summary of the information presented in the diagrams.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on different areas of the sports centre. You use cohesive devices such as 'Although', 'Looking at the details', 'While', and 'Furthermore' to guide the reader through the information. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as 'another outdoor courts' (plural noun with singular determiner). Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different sections of the plan. The progression of ideas is clear, though the flow could be smoother with more varied linking phrases.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'redevelopment', 'modernize', 'constructed', and 'introduced'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'will expected to be' (should be 'is expected to be') and 'on the both side' (should be 'on both sides'). Additionally, there are some minor errors in word form, such as 'modernize' used where 'modernized' or 'modern' would be more appropriate. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Expanding your range of descriptive adjectives and ensuring correct pluralization would improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'that outdoor courts which was' (should be 'the outdoor courts which were') and 'two dance studio' (should be 'two dance studios'). The use of passive voice is generally appropriate for this task, but the tense consistency is sometimes shaky, such as 'will be remained same' (should be 'will remain the same'). While the meaning is always clear, the frequency of these minor errors indicates a need for more careful proofreading of basic grammatical rules.
