Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all key features of the two plans, including the retention of the central facilities and the addition of new ones. You successfully identified the main changes, such as the replacement of the western outdoor courts with a leisure pool and the addition of the sports hall and dance studios. However, the overview is slightly cluttered and contains some inaccuracies, such as stating the leisure pool will be replaced by outdoor courts, when the diagram shows the reverse. To improve, ensure your overview clearly synthesizes the most significant trends rather than listing specific details, and double-check your interpretation of the visual data to avoid factual errors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, a description of the present, and a description of the future. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by mechanical phrasing and some awkward transitions. For instance, the phrase 'the future, the main pool...' lacks a preposition like 'In'. Additionally, some sentences are repetitive, such as the mention of the changing room at the end of the final paragraph, which could have been integrated more smoothly into the earlier description. Using a wider variety of cohesive devices would help improve the logical progression between sentences.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'redevelopment', 'facilities', and 'layout'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'with adding some facilities' and 'will added'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise verbs and ensuring correct word forms (e.g., 'will be added' instead of 'will added'). Expanding your range to include more sophisticated synonyms for 'change' or 'add' would also be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses and passive voice constructions (e.g., 'will replaced', 'will added', 'will remain in roughly the same positions'). There are also minor punctuation and article errors throughout the text. While these errors rarely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on consistent subject-verb agreement and the correct formation of passive voice structures will significantly improve your accuracy.
