IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The plans below show the layout of a university’s sports centre now, and how it will look after redevelopment.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The map demonstrates the layout of the sports arena of a university, at present and how it will look after the reconstruction.

As of now, the outdoor courts are outside of the boundary which will be merged with the pool, constructing multiple studios and a hall. The amendments will include more facilities for the students by opening sports shop, multiple changing rooms and cafe.

The major change is related to the outdoor courts, the one on the west will be demolished and converted into the leisure pool while the other on the eastern side of the pool will be converted into the sports hall. Two dance studios will be constructed on the north-east corner of the sports centre. Currently, there is one changing room beside the pool whereas in future there will be three changing rooms in total. One is in between the pool and leisure pool, and other two will be in the south-east and south-west corner of the arena.

The center pool will remain of same measurement 25m, with a reception on front, seating on right and Gym on the back side but the size of the gym will be expanded. A cafe will be constructed on the eastern and sports shop will on western side of the main entrance making it easily accessible for the students.
