Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the plans, such as the addition of the dance studio, cafe, and leisure pool. However, the description is often inaccurate or confusing. For example, the claim that there are 'twelve type of facilities' is not supported by the visual data, and the description of the current layout is vague. The overview is weak, as it fails to clearly highlight the most significant changes, such as the expansion of the gym and the addition of new leisure facilities. To improve, focus on accurately identifying the key changes and grouping them logically rather than listing them in a way that obscures the comparison.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the logical progression within paragraphs is often disrupted by awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence starters like 'in present time' and 'in future plans'. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often applied mechanically or incorrectly, such as the misuse of 'Whereas' at the start of a sentence. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to follow which part of the sports centre is being discussed. Improving the flow between sentences and using a wider variety of linking words would significantly enhance the coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. Phrases such as 'in present time', 'in future plans', and 'type of facilities' are used repeatedly, which restricts the range. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'campus conduct' instead of 'campus layout' and 'in down side' instead of 'in the southern corner'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise terminology related to maps and diagrams, such as 'situated', 'adjacent to', 'transformed', or 'extended', and avoid repeating the same basic phrases throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include incorrect preposition usage (e.g., 'opened in future time of east side'), missing articles, and subject-verb agreement errors (e.g., 'the plans charts illustrate'). The sentence construction is often fragmented, which makes the text difficult to read. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence variety and proofreading for basic errors like missing 'the' or 'a' would be very beneficial.
