Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response successfully identifies the main features of the sports centre redevelopment. You have provided a clear overview and highlighted the key changes, such as the addition of the leisure pool and the conversion of outdoor courts. However, the report lacks precision in some areas; for example, describing the gym as expanding on the 'northern east side' is slightly inaccurate based on the visual data. Additionally, while you mention the reception and pool remain unchanged, you could have provided more specific comparisons regarding the scale of the changes to reach a higher band. Overall, the task is addressed well, but more careful attention to detail and comparative language would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover' and 'While' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. For instance, the sentence starting with 'Nowadays, sport centre has a three layout...' is somewhat disjointed. Paragraphing is present, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'opposite side') is clearer to the reader. The progression of information is generally clear, but the structure feels slightly repetitive in its delivery.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'redevelopment', 'amenities', and 'convert'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'map demonstrate' (should be 'maps demonstrate') and 'a three layout of structure'. The use of 'arrangement of dance studio' is also unnatural. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring subject-verb agreement. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main points, it lacks the flexibility and sophistication required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('a sport shop', 'a cafe') and pluralization ('changing room' instead of 'changing rooms', 'dancing studio' instead of 'dance studios'). Subject-verb agreement is also inconsistent, such as 'The map demonstrate'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to detract from the overall quality of the writing. To reach a higher band, you should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and attempting more complex sentence structures with greater control.
