Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the sports centre redevelopment well. You have successfully identified the key additions, such as the leisure pool, dance studios, and sports hall, while noting what remains unchanged. However, the overview is slightly weak; it lacks a clear summary of the most significant transformation, which is the expansion of the facility's capacity. Additionally, some descriptions of location are slightly imprecise, such as 'east-south corner' instead of 'south-east'. To reach a higher band, ensure that the overview highlights the overall trend of the changes rather than just listing individual features.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into an introduction, a description of the current layout, and a description of the future layout. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate these sections. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'meanwhile on the left side next to changing room' and 'along a sport shop on its right'. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the referencing of locations could be smoother to help the reader visualize the map more effectively. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe the map, including terms like 'redevelopment', 'adjacent', and 'constructed'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'sport hall will be manufacture' (should be 'constructed' or 'built') and 'Anew changing room' (should be 'A new'). There is also a tendency to use repetitive phrasing when describing locations. To improve, focus on using more precise geographical descriptors and ensuring that verbs are used correctly in the context of building and development.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the 25m pool', 'a sport shop') and prepositions. For example, 'On the eastern, seating areas is available' contains an error in subject-verb agreement and preposition usage. Additionally, 'sport hall will be manufacture' is a passive voice error. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent use of articles will help improve your accuracy.
