Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. Furthermore, the content is underdeveloped. While you attempt to describe the present layout, the description is repetitive and lacks a clear overview of the key changes. You fail to mention several significant features of the proposed redevelopment, such as the addition of new courts, the expansion of the gym, or the relocation of the changing rooms. To improve, you must provide a more comprehensive summary of the main features and ensure you compare the two maps effectively, rather than just listing items in a fragmented manner.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5
The response lacks logical organization and progression. The sentences are disjointed, and there is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas together. The paragraphing is insufficient, as the second paragraph is extremely brief and does not adequately develop the comparison between the two maps. The use of 'and then' is repetitive and mechanical, which hinders the flow of the text. To improve, you should use a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'whereas', 'in contrast', 'subsequently') and structure your essay with a clear introduction, an overview of the main changes, and detailed body paragraphs.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary is very basic and repetitive. You rely on simple, functional words like 'map', 'picture', and 'enter'. There is little attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary related to architectural plans or spatial descriptions (e.g., 'layout', 'reconfigured', 'extended', 'adjacent'). Spelling errors such as 'unitversity' and 'centere' also detract from the quality of the writing. To achieve a higher band, you should focus on using more precise nouns and adjectives to describe the facilities and the changes occurring in the redevelopment plan.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The grammatical range is very limited, consisting mostly of simple, repetitive sentence structures. There are frequent errors in basic grammar, such as 'The Present map in 1st picture is illustrating about' (incorrect preposition and article usage) and 'in yoour front there is a gym' (awkward phrasing and spelling). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing commas and run-on sentences. To improve, you need to practice using a variety of complex sentence structures and focus on eliminating basic errors in subject-verb agreement and prepositional usage.
