IELTS Writing Task 1 question
The plans below show the layout of a university’s sports centre now, and how it will look after redevelopment.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The plans illustrates the current layout of the university's sports centre and the proposed changes following its redevelopment.
Overall, the sports center will undergo substantial expansion. While the reception, pool, seating area and the existing changing room are going to remain unchanged, several new facilities are being added. The area of the outdoor courts are going to be used to expand the current layout of the sports centre.
To begin with, the entrance to the sports centre will remain the same, which is present to the south of the centre. As you further move in, you will see the same reception, the eastern and western sides of the entrance now houses two new facilities, which is a cafe and a sports shop. There are additional changing rooms built besides both cafe and sports shop.
A leisure pool is being built to the north west of the centre, and the gym is also being expanded. There are two new dance studios being built, to the north east side of the centre; which is adjacent to the cafe. A new sports hall is being added opposite to the dance studio, besides the seating area.
These changes will certain improvise the overall structure of the sports centre.
