Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the sports centre plans, such as the addition of dance studios, a cafe, and a sports shop. However, the description is somewhat disorganized and lacks a clear overview or summary of the most significant changes. The student attempts to describe the layout but struggles to provide a coherent comparison between the 'now' and 'future' states. Some details are vague, such as 'that was the changing they do', which does not effectively summarize the transformation. To improve, ensure you provide a clear introductory overview and group features logically rather than listing them in a way that is difficult to follow.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is divided into two paragraphs, which is a positive start. However, the progression of ideas is often confusing. The use of cohesive devices is very limited and sometimes mechanical (e.g., 'now we will move to'). There is a lack of logical flow between sentences, making it difficult for the reader to visualize the layout changes. Referencing is often unclear, such as using 'that' to refer to entire previous clauses without sufficient clarity. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each sentence builds logically upon the previous one would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive, relying heavily on simple directional language (e.g., 'right side', 'left side', 'back side'). There are several spelling errors, such as 'universty', 'eaast', 'easting', 'thye', 'campersion', and 'lesiure', which detract from the overall quality. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the basic meaning, it lacks the precision and range required for a higher band score. To improve, focus on learning specific vocabulary related to describing maps and layouts, such as 'adjacent to', 'situated in the corner', 'undergo renovation', and 'transformed into'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'they will added'), incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'there was a lesiure pool' when describing a future plan), and missing articles. Sentence structures are predominantly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and missing capital letters at the start of sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring consistent verb tenses when describing future changes, and proofreading for common errors like subject-verb agreement.
