Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which negatively impacts the score. While you have identified some key features of the plans, the description is quite brief and lacks a detailed comparison between the two layouts. You have attempted to summarize the main changes, but the lack of sufficient detail means the task is only partially addressed. To improve, ensure you provide a more comprehensive overview of the spatial changes and include more specific data or directional references to fully describe the transformation of the sports centre.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into three short paragraphs, which is a logical approach. However, the flow of ideas is somewhat disjointed due to the limited use of cohesive devices. Transitions between the current layout and the future redevelopment are abrupt. For instance, the phrase 'after that' is used to bridge the two sections, but it does not effectively signal the contrast between the two timeframes. To achieve a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and phrases to guide the reader through the comparison more smoothly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive, with several spelling errors such as 'squire' for 'square', 'accomodetions' for 'accommodations', and 'spore' for 'sports'. The range of vocabulary is basic, relying on simple descriptors like 'big' and 'small'. To improve, you should aim to use more precise terminology related to architectural layouts and facility descriptions, such as 'integrated', 'expanded', or 'reconfigured'. Additionally, ensure you proofread your work to eliminate basic spelling mistakes that distract from your message.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('The both plans represents') and article usage ('in north direction'). Sentence structures are generally simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. The phrasing 'that two parts will including in one area' is grammatically incorrect and hinders clarity. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically verb tenses and the correct use of prepositions, before attempting more complex structures. Increased attention to punctuation and sentence boundaries would also be beneficial.
