IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The plans below show the layout of a university’s sports centre now, and how it will look after redevelopment.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The maps illustrate the layout of university sports centre at present and a plan for its future redevelopment.

Overall, the area of university's sport centre is expected to be extended, with several new facilities being added and some of the original features removed. Some facilities is planned, such as a sports hall, dance studios, changing rooms, a cafe, a sports shop and a leisure pool. A few things like the entrance, a gym, a changing room, the reception, a seating block and 25m pool is likely to be remained unchanged, while the outdoor courts is planned to removed.

Currently, a reception is located in the south entrance and a gym in the northern part. There is a 25m pool present in the middle of university sport centre, with a seating to its right and a changing room to its left. Two outdoor courts are located on either side of sport centre.

In the future, the area is planned to expended towards the west and east side, with several new facilities added in the enlarged section. The gym area will be extended to the east. Two outdoors courts are likely to be removed, while some features, such as a 25m pool, a changing room, a seating, the reception and an entrance will remain unchanged. A sports hall and two dance studios is planned in the place of right outdoor courts, with a changing room in the bottom-right corner and a cafe to its left. The left outdoor courts will be converted into the leisure pool and a changing room in the bottom-left corner with a sports shop to its right.
