IELTS Writing Task 1 question
The plans below show the layout of a university’s sports centre now, and how it will look after redevelopment.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 7.0)
The maps depict present structure and predicted layout of a university's sports centre.
Overall, currently the sports centre is simple with only a few facilities, but in future plans drastic changes have been decided. Various features will be added such as dance studio, cafe, sports shop and leisure pool; however, seating, reception and pool remained the same.
At present, the 25 metre of pool is enclosed by the gym facility sitting on it's north side, changing room is present on its west side, reception area is situated on it's south and seating area is present on its east side. In contrast, after redevelopment, it is predicted that gym will be extended further right, just next to dance studio.
Outdoor court present on the left side of the changing room will be refurbished to leisure pool and the another outdoor court on right side will be converted into sports hall. Additional changing rooms will be added on southwestern and southeastern side of the sports centre. Just beside these changing rooms, sports shop and cafe will be added on each side of the reception area.
