Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The student covers all key parts of the task by summarizing the main features of the current sports centre layout and the proposed future changes. The overview statement is clear, noting that the complex will expand and offer more facilities. The student correctly identifies that the 25m pool remains central, while outdoor courts are replaced by indoor additions such as a leisure pool, dance studios, a sports hall, a café, and a sports shop. However, there are minor awkward phrasings and slight inaccuracies in spatial descriptions, such as stating 'reception is located near the main entrance directly the south' or 'seating area is allocates on the east'. Despite these minor flaws, the main features and comparisons are adequately reported, fulfilling the requirements for Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organized into four logical paragraphs: an introduction with an overview, a description of the present layout, and two body paragraphs detailing the future changes. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different time frames. However, logical progression and cohesion are occasionally hindered by awkward transitions and missing prepositions (e.g., 'On eastern , Sports hall is constructed'). Cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or repetitive, and referencing is occasionally unclear. Overall arrangement is coherent, matching the descriptors for Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range suitable for Task 1, attempting less common items such as 'refurbishment', 'redevelopment', and 'complex'. However, there are numerous word choice, collocation, and form errors throughout the text, such as 'demonstrate they layout', 'provides wider facilities', '25 meters pool', 'outdoor courts will remove', and 'lux sports complex'. While these errors do not impede communication, they reflect limitations in lexical control that cap the score at Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but grammatical accuracy is weak. There are frequent errors in verb forms, voice, and prepositions, including missing verbs or articles (e.g., 'In present, its an ordinary sports center', '25 meters swimming pool at center', 'building has been extended both the sides', 'outdoor courts will be disappear'). Punctuation and spacing errors (e.g., spaces before commas) also occur regularly. Because these errors occur frequently and affect readability, the grammar score falls into the Band 5.0 category.
