IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The plans below show the layout of a university’s sports centre now, and how it will look after redevelopment.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The visual illustrates the future structural changes that are planned for the layout of a present university's sports centre.

Overall, the interior of the center, surrounded by the outdoor courts, contains the basic features such as a gym, reception and a pool. Conversely, the future plans contains the addition of a number of advanced and updated features by expanding the area for the gym and replacing the outdoor courts with new features including a large sports hall and a leisure pool respectively. No changes are intended to make regarding the interior pool.

Upon entering the centre, the visiors would come across a reception that surrounds a 25m pool. A gym is located at the nothern side of the centre next to a changing room. Similarly, a seating area is allocated at the north-eastern side of the centre. The exterior of the centre is reserved by large outdoor courts.

Regarding the future plans, an advanced expansion is planned for the overall layout of the sports center. This plan includes expanding the interior of the center by totally relocating the outdoor features. Upon entering, the visitors would come across a cafe on the eastern side of the centre, located next to a changing room in the corner. The eastern side would contain a large sports hall with an addition of dance studios. Subsequently, the opposite side would consist of a large leisure pool and another changing room in the corner respectively. Similarly, the area of the centre allocated for the gym would be increased.
