Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5
The response attempts to describe both the present and future layouts of the university sports centre, identifying several key features such as the pool, gym, seating, and new additions like the leisure pool, sports hall, and dance studios. However, the description lacks the structural organization and comparative overview expected of Academic Task 1. Important features, such as the overall expansion into former outdoor court areas, are stated very simplistically. The response falls short of fully reporting the main features and making clear, cohesive comparisons between the two plans, which places it at Band 4.5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
Cohesion and logical progression are heavily impacted by frequent sentence fragments, broken phrasing, and poorly managed paragraphing. While the writer attempts to divide the present layout and future plans into separate paragraphs, sentences such as 'We entrd thein south universty,in south daimention there its reception' lack clear logical links and make the progression difficult to follow. Reference words are misused or absent, and cohesive devices are inadequate, leading to an overall arrangement that struggles to maintain clarity, corresponding to Band 4.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive (e.g., 'universty', 'sports center', 'changing room'). There are numerous severe spelling and word-formation errors throughout the text, such as 'dimmentins' for dimensions, 'chaing costiums' for changing costumes, 'entrd' for entered, 'daimention' for dimension, and 'feceliteted' for facilitated. These errors significantly strain the reader and reflect a limited vocabulary range that barely satisfies the minimum requirements, fitting Band 4.0 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
Grammatical control is extremely weak, with a heavy reliance on simple sentence fragments and faulty attempts at more complex structures. There is an almost complete absence of correct subject-verb agreement, tense consistency, and punctuation. Examples include 'This map show the present sports center of univerty.it has four dimmentins' and 'Now universty has many changing, excat with seating aera it has a sport hall.' Frequent and pervasive errors impede communication throughout the response, placing it firmly at Band 4.0.
