Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student attempts to describe the main features of the two plans, noting key changes such as the expansion of the building, the addition of a leisure pool, dance studios, a sports hall, and a sports shop. However, the response lacks a clear and coherent overall overview of the main trends or transformations. Furthermore, there are several inaccuracies and omissions in reporting spatial relationships and features; for instance, the description of the new facilities becomes somewhat confused (e.g., 'opposite it will be changing room' and inaccurate descriptions of the eastern/western wings). While the core purpose of comparing the two layouts is addressed, the development is limited and marred by imprecise reporting of the visual data, placing it firmly at Band 5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is divided into short paragraphs attempting to contrast the present and future layouts, but the overall progression is disjointed. Paragraphing is rudimentary and the transitions between ideas feel abrupt. Cohesive devices are minimal and sometimes inaccurate or misused (e.g., 'First layout shows...', 'But after redevelopment...'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the exact spatial progression across the map. While an underlying organizational structure is present, the faulty mechanical cohesion and lack of smooth logical flow restrict the score to Band 5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student uses a limited and repetitive range of vocabulary suited to the task, such as 'layout', 'sports centre', 'reception', 'pool', and 'gym'. There are numerous spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'redevolpement' (redevelopment), 'diveded' (divided), 'buliding' (building), 'enterence' (entrance), 'seeting' (seating), 'combine' (combined), and 'deparments' (departments). Less common lexical items are attempted but generally flawed in form or collocation. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey basic information about the plans, the frequency of errors impacts communication, aligning with Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms (e.g., conditional-style phrasing and relative clauses), but grammatical accuracy is very weak. There are frequent errors in article usage, prepositional phrases, and verb forms, such as 'before and after respectively after reconstruction', 'sport complex is diveded', 'the Sports centre become a combine building', and 'The redevolped sports complex more facilities'. Punctuation is also problematic in places, with missing spaces after periods and commas. Although some sentences are understandable, errors are frequent and often cause difficulty for the reader, fitting the Band 5 descriptor.
