Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response attempts to describe the university sports centre maps, but it struggles significantly with format, tone, and accuracy. Instead of providing an academic summary of the main features and comparisons between the present and future layouts, the writer adopts an informal, conversational narrative style ('As we can see...', 'i assume one is for the girls and one is for the boys'). Furthermore, the interpretation of the visual data is flawed; the text misidentifies features (calling the new western addition a leisure pool when it replaces outdoor courts, and inventing gender-segregated uses for the dance studios). Because key features are misreported and the academic register is missing, this falls well short of the requirements for higher bands.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The text suffers from severe issues with cohesion and paragraphing. The entire 151-word response is written as a single, massive run-on sentence containing numerous clauses linked loosely by conjunctions ('and when...', 'where the student...', 'ater on...', 'along we can see...'). There is a complete lack of proper punctuation, full stops, and paragraph division, making the text extremely difficult to read and follow. While chronological or spatial progression is attempted, the absence of basic structural boundaries and clear cohesive devices means the response lacks logical organisation.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is very basic, repetitive, and restricted to everyday terms ('student', 'gym', 'pool', 'change', 'dance'). There are several spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'ater on', 'seperatly', and awkward phrasing like 'change the clothes'. Attempts to use less common or descriptive language are either inaccurate or inappropriate for an academic task. The lexical range is barely adequate to communicate the basic ideas, resulting in a low score for this criterion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

Grammatically, the response is severely limited and inaccurate. The entire text consists of a single run-on sentence punctuated only by commas, demonstrating a complete lack of control over sentence boundaries and punctuation. There are numerous grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('where a student enter', 'there a cafe'), missing articles, and faulty clause structures. Because the writing lacks independent, grammatically sound sentences, it falls into the lowest bands for grammatical accuracy and range.
