Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The student attempts to describe the main changes between the present and future plans of the university sports centre, mentioning the expansion of the gym, the removal of the outdoor courts, and the addition of facilities such as a café, sports shop, and dance studios. However, the response falls short of a fully developed overview. The structure lacks proper paragraphing, reading as a single dense block of text, which hinders the overall clarity and selection of key features. Furthermore, some descriptions are vague or inaccurate, such as stating that 'the most dominant changing placed at outdoor sports area that it would completely changed and merged into the indoor sports are'. While the main components are touched upon, the lack of an organized overview and numerous descriptive inaccuracies place this in the lower band range.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
Coherence and cohesion are major weaknesses in this response. The entire text consists of a single, unstructured paragraph starting with a conversational opening ('Here i am assinged to...'). There is no logical paragraph break to separate the introduction, the present layout, and the future developments. Cohesive devices are either missing, repetitive, or misused (e.g., overusing 'if we look at'). The progression of ideas is difficult to follow, as the writer jumps back and forth between different parts of the maps without a clear spatial or structural guide.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is quite basic and repetitive, with frequent word-choice and spelling errors ('assinged', 'center', 'sitting are', 'athelets', 'renew map', 'palce', 'indoor sport area'). While the student attempts to name some specific features from the map (e.g., 'gym', 'changing room', 'dance studio', 'cafe'), the limitations in lexical range and the persistent errors in spelling and collocation restrict the score. Advanced or precise academic vocabulary appropriate for describing maps and diagrams is largely absent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
Grammatical control is weak throughout the response. The text relies heavily on lengthy, run-on sentences joined by conjunctions like 'and' and 'if' (e.g., 'Furthermore, if we look at the map of present center it include a pool in centre and from the entrance we should directly face towards reception...'). There are frequent errors in verb forms, subject-verb agreement, and articles (e.g., 'it include', 'sitting are', 'are remain on their palce', 'the renew map'). Complex structures are attempted but are generally faulty, leading to frequent strain for the reader.
