Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by outlining the main features of the university sports centre now and in the future. An overview is presented in the second paragraph, capturing the main changes such as the addition of a leisure pool and other amenities. However, some ideas are under-developed or lack clarity, such as the vague description of outdoor courts and the somewhat confusing details regarding room placements. While the general layout changes are reported, the development of key comparisons remains somewhat limited, placing this part of the writing solidly within the six band.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The text demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the information into paragraphs, moving from an introduction and overview to specific details. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty, seen in phrases like 'To begin with' and 'Furthermore', which are used rather abruptly. Referencing and logical progression are occasionally unclear, particularly when jumping between different parts of the plan without smooth transitional devices. Paragraphing is present, but the internal flow of ideas needs more careful management to achieve a higher band.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common terms such as 'pictorial representation', 'ameneties', and 'redevelopment'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'comperisonal', 'recounstruction', 'attech', 'converting' instead of 'converted', and 'entrence'. These lexical inaccuracies and misspellings occasionally impede communication or distract the reader, though the vocabulary remains minimally sufficient to convey the general message about the map changes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response shows a limited mix of sentence forms, attempting some complex structures which are often faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors in verb forms, tenses, and voice, such as 'there are some areas will remain same' and 'west outdoor courts will converting'. Punctuation and preposition usage also show persistent issues, including missing articles and awkward phrasing like 'in left side to the entrence'. These errors require effort from the reader to parse, though simple sentences are generally handled with better control.
