Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

The response fails to properly address the demands of the Academic Task 1 prompt. Instead of providing an objective summary and comparison of the two map layouts, the writer provides subjective personal opinions and irrelevant general commentary about why sports and activities are important for human life, such as stating 'activites also important for human life and for over mind we need to do sports activities'. The selection of features is extremely limited and poorly grounded in the visual data. The descriptions of the changes are confused, vague, and lack the required formal report style. To move up, the response must entirely remove personal opinions and systematically report the actual visual changes shown on the maps, such as extensions, replacements, and newly added facilities.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.0

The text lacks logical organisation and a clear overall progression. It is written as a single undifferentiated block of text rather than being structured into coherent paragraphs with an introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. Cohesive devices are largely absent or used inappropriately, resulting in disjointed and repetitive sentences like 'Because, activites also important for human life and for over mind we need to do sports activities or playing football, criceket or many sports.' The referencing of ideas is unclear, and the transition between ideas feels mechanical and random. Improving coherence requires grouping related spatial features together, utilizing clear paragraph breaks, and employing appropriate cohesive links to connect sentences logically.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic, highly repetitive, and heavily relies on words directly lifted from the prompt or simple everyday terms, such as 'university', 'sports', 'centre', 'gym', and 'important'. There are notable word choice and word formation errors, such as 'adding some news features' instead of 'new features', and 'sportsshop' written as a single incorrect compound. The range of vocabulary is narrow and barely adequate to convey the intended meaning, with frequent errors in spelling and collocation. To achieve a higher band, the student needs to incorporate a wider and more precise range of lexical items specific to describing architectural changes and spatial layouts, such as 'demolished', 'replaced', 'extended', and 'relocated'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and faulty attempts at complex clauses. There are frequent and intrusive grammatical errors throughout the text, including severe issues with verb forms and tense consistency, such as 'we need to adding some news features' and 'university sports centre having outdoor courts'. Article usage, prepositions, and sentence boundaries are also handled poorly, leading to run-on sentences and fragments like 'So this is best future plan for the upcoming time is good for students.' These frequent errors cause considerable difficulty for the reader. Progress requires mastering basic sentence construction, eliminating fragment sentences, and gaining accurate control over verb patterns and prepositions.
