Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main transformation: the outdoor courts are removed, a leisure pool and other facilities are added, and some existing features remain. You also compare the western and eastern sides and note that the central pool and reception stay in place. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: the gym extends eastward along the north, rather than simply being expanded with unspecified “new areas near it,” and the café and changing room are in the south-east, not the north-east. The overview also says the changing room and seating remain unchanged without distinguishing the central changing room from the additional rooms. More precise descriptions of locations and the scale or direction of changes would make the account more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction and overview to descriptions of different areas. However, progression is not consistently clear: the final paragraph calls the south-east the “north-eastern part,” repeating and confusing the location information. Several linking expressions are also awkward or create incomplete contrasts, such as “While sports shop and cafe would be added near the reception” and “Whereas, gym would be expanded.” The repeated use of “In contrast” does not always signal a genuine contrast. Organise the details by west, centre and east, and use complete sentences with simpler, more precise links to make the relationships easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
You use a suitable range of planning vocabulary, including “demolished,” “replaced,” “expanded,” “unaltered” and “constructed,” which helps describe the redevelopment. Some choices are less natural or precise: “the area will take several significant changes” is an awkward collocation, and “converted into leisure pool” needs a more natural construction. “Near the reception” is also imprecise because the new shop and café are in separate south-western and south-eastern areas. There are occasional spelling and capitalisation slips, including “univerity,” “center” and inconsistent capitalisation of “Outdoor.” The range is adequate and meaning remains clear, but more accurate collocations and location-specific vocabulary would improve flexibility and precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex forms, including “Outdoor courts would be demolished and would be converted…” and the contrast clause beginning “While.” The main relationships are generally understandable, but some sentence structures are incomplete or awkward. “While sports shop and cafe would be added near the reception” is a dependent clause without a main clause, and “Whereas, gym would be expanded” is not well integrated into the sentence. Articles are also missing in phrases such as “into leisure pool” and “gym area,” while tense and modal use shifts between “would” and “will.” Aim to make each sentence complete, use articles consistently, and maintain a consistent future form; these changes would improve control without sacrificing your attempts at complex sentences.
