Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5

The response gives a clear overview of the redevelopment, identifying the expansion of the centre and the addition of facilities, and it correctly notes that the pool, central changing room, seating and reception remain in place. It also reports the western leisure pool, the south-west changing room and shop, and the eastern sports hall and dance studios. This covers the main changes and comparisons well. However, the description of the eastern additions is not fully precise: the two studios are along the eastern wall, while the café and changing room are in the south-east, south of the sports hall. The claim that there will be “one entry point” is not clearly supported by the plans. More exact positioning and avoiding unsupported details would strengthen an otherwise well-focused summary.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response is arranged in a sensible sequence: an introduction, an overview, a description of the proposed changes, and a final sentence on features that remain unchanged. This makes the main comparison easy to follow. Linking expressions such as “To begin with,” “Moreover,” and “Furthermore” help signal progression, and the west-to-east description gives the reader a useful spatial route. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “below it” and “below the gym in the right side” require the reader to infer which feature is being referenced, and “respectively” does not clearly match the items listed. The overview also combines several ideas in one sentence. Clearer references and more precise transitions would retain the logical structure while making cohesion more natural.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

There is an adequate range of vocabulary for describing a plan, including “redevelopment,” “layout,” “addition,” “expand,” and “unchanged.” The writer also attempts less common terms such as “installation” and “overall perspective,” showing some flexibility. However, several choices or collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “the sport center undergo significant changes,” “one large space,” and “some of the area will be redesign.” Repetition of “below” and “place” also limits precision when describing locations. Use standard plan vocabulary and collocations, such as “the centre will be expanded,” “facilities will be added,” and “to the south of,” to make the description more concise and exact. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding the main changes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “while,” “whereas,” and “as,” but control is uneven. Errors occur in verb forms and agreement: “the sport center undergo,” “will be demolish,” “will be develop,” and “there will be two dance studio will be built.” There are also problems with articles, possessives and sentence construction, as in “with it's future redevelopment plan” and “the reception below the pool will be remain unchanged.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause, although the intended meaning is generally recoverable. Practise forming future passive structures (“will be demolished,” “will be developed”) and checking subject–verb agreement, articles and sentence boundaries. More accurate control of these patterns would make the complex descriptions clearer.
