Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main contrast between the smaller present centre and the expanded future layout, and you report several relevant features, including the two outdoor courts, the added leisure pool, sports hall and dance studios, and the retained central pool. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: the future plan has one additional changing room on each side, but your description of “two changing rooms” in the south does not clearly locate all of them; the gym extends eastward, rather than simply remaining in the north. The overview also says there will be “many areas” without summarising the key changes precisely. To strengthen the response, compare the plans more systematically and explain which existing facilities stay in place and which new facilities replace or occupy the former court areas.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the present and future layouts. This gives the reader a basic progression, and phrases such as “To begin with” and “On the other side” signal a shift between plans. However, the future-plan paragraph groups several locations together, making the spatial relationships difficult to follow; for example, the references to the east, opposite side, and south are not consistently organised. Some linking phrases are also mechanical or awkward, and “Eventually” does not clearly introduce a concluding point. Improve cohesion by describing the plan in a consistent order—such as centre, west, east, then south—and use clear references to distinguish retained facilities from additions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for describing a plan, including “layout,” “outdoor courts,” “leisure pool,” “dance studio,” and “sports hall.” These terms show that you can identify and name several facilities. However, the range and control are limited, with repeated reliance on “side,” “located,” and “area.” Some word choices or forms are inaccurate, such as “smalled,” “reconstract,” and “avaliable,” while “sports sector” is less precise than “sports centre.” These errors sometimes make the description harder to understand. Build a more varied set of accurate location phrases, such as “to the east of,” “in the south-west corner,” and “along the eastern wall,” and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the response generally communicates the broad comparison. However, grammatical control is weak: errors occur in verb forms, articles, agreement, and sentence construction. Examples include “it will look after reconstract,” “there will many areas,” and “Gym will in the North side.” The sentence beginning “The map comparisons the design…” is also incomplete or incorrectly formed, and several clauses are joined in ways that obscure their relationships. Use a clear comparative introduction, then build accurate sentences with a subject and verb—for example, “The centre is smaller at present, but it will be expanded.” Practise future forms (“there will be”) and location structures (“the gym is in the north”).
