Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main change clearly: the centre expands, new facilities are added, and the 25m pool and reception stay in place. You also compare several locations, including the western leisure pool and the new southern facilities. This covers the task’s main purpose, with some detail beyond a basic summary. However, there are important inaccuracies: the eastern outdoor courts are replaced by a sports hall, not the western courts, and the gym extends eastward along the north rather than simply moving above the seating. The dance studios are both on the eastern side, one north of the other; describing one as merely “East side” is imprecise. A more complete overview of the expansion and the major additions would make the account more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a broad overview, and a paragraph describing added facilities. This gives the reader a basic route through the information, and phrases such as “At present time” and “After the redevelopment” help signal comparisons. However, progression within the long middle paragraph is difficult to follow because several comparisons and changes are joined together, sometimes with commas or capital letters rather than clear sentence boundaries. The repeated use of “At present time” and “side” also makes the linking feel mechanical. Grouping the description by area—for example, west, centre, and east—and using clearer transitions would improve the logical flow and make relationships between features easier to track.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant map vocabulary, including “redevelopment,” “leisure pool,” “sports shop,” and “dance studio,” so the reader can identify many of the facilities. There is also some attempt to describe spatial relationships with “southwest,” “Southeast,” and “above.” However, the range is limited and several phrases are imprecise or unnatural, such as “looking more details in maps,” “outlets are added for better facilities of people,” and “attached with changing room.” Repetition of “added,” “side,” and “at present time” further restricts flexibility. Choose precise verbs for changes and standard location phrases; this will make the description more concise and accurate without requiring unnecessarily complex vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple statements and longer comparisons, but control is inconsistent. The opening, “The two map represents,” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “how it will look like” uses an incorrect construction. Other examples include “The size of pool and reception remains” and “there is two outdoor courts,” where agreement and article use are inaccurate. Several sentences run together, notably the sequence beginning “At present time there is two outdoor courts,” which also makes punctuation and clause relationships unclear. These errors sometimes make the reader pause, although the intended meaning is generally recoverable. Practise accurate plural forms and agreement, and separate each comparison into a complete sentence; then build more controlled complex sentences using “while” or “whereas.”
