Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You provide a relevant overview, identifying substantial redevelopment and noting that the 25-metre pool and reception remain. You also mention the western leisure pool and new eastern facilities. However, the account is only partial: it does not explain that the gym extends eastward or that a sports hall is added east of the seating, and the description of the south-east area is unclear. The statement that a café is “on the left of changing room” misrepresents the plan: the café and changing room are in the south-east, with the café not described as left of the changing room. The response is 142 words, below the 150-word minimum; the 19 words copied from the prompt are excluded. Develop the key changes more accurately and completely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic overall structure: an overview is followed by descriptions of the current and future layout, and words such as “whereas” and “while” attempt to connect comparisons. However, progression is difficult to follow because the future features are presented in a confusing order and some information is repeated. For example, the western leisure pool is described in both the third and final paragraphs, while the eastern changes are compressed into one unclear sentence. The phrase “On the east of Sports centre” does not establish a clear relationship between features. Organise the response by area or by present-versus-future changes, and use clear references such as “to the east of the seating” to guide the reader.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “redevelopment,” “facilities,” “replaced,” and “remain,” so the reader can identify the general subject and several changes. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make the description less clear. “Outside courts” is less suitable than “outdoor courts,” and “sports cenre” is misspelled. The phrase “replaced of outside courts” is not an accurate collocation, while “25 cm pool” uses the wrong unit for the pool’s name. Repeated use of “changing room” and “remain” also limits variety. Build a more precise set of location and change phrases, such as “is converted into,” “is added alongside,” and “in the south-east corner.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer comparisons, as in “The outdoor courts will be replaced by new facilities, while…” This gives the response some structural variety, and the overview is generally understandable. However, many sentences contain errors in sentence construction, verb forms, articles, plurals, and punctuation. For example, “they will made Two dance studios” needs a passive form (“two dance studios will be added”), and “Changing room Opposite to 25 cm pool” is a fragment rather than a complete sentence. In “a changing room, on the left of changing room there's a cafe,” the clauses are joined without clear grammatical structure. Use complete sentences with consistent future passive forms and check articles and sentence boundaries.
