Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the broad changes: new facilities will be added, the outdoor courts removed, and several existing features retained. However, the account is only partial and some locations are misreported. The changing room beside the 25m pool is on its western side now, but it remains in the same central position in the future plan; the new western changing room is a separate addition. The gym extends eastward, and the future plan also adds a café, shop and changing rooms, but these details are not clearly located. The overview is relevant but general, and the response is 144 words, below the required 150; the 10 words copied from the prompt are excluded. Add precise comparisons and cover the main changes more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has an opening, an overview and further details, so there is some organisation. However, the progression is not consistently clear: the second paragraph groups changes by east and west, while the final paragraph shifts to north and south and repeats features already mentioned. The connector “Then” does not clearly show the relationship between the information, and “on the other hand” is not an effective contrast for the points that follow. Some references are also unclear, such as “Changing room” and “there locations,” which makes it harder to distinguish existing facilities from new ones. Organise the details into a clear present-versus-future comparison or describe the west and east expansions in separate, logically ordered paragraphs.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for describing a plan, including “layout,” “redevelopment,” “retain,” “addition” and “replaced,” and the reader can generally understand the facilities being discussed. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate: “additon,” “termination of outdoor courts,” “cafe room” and “new additional rooms” are either misspelled, unnatural or repetitive. “Retain there places” also uses the wrong form of “their.” Aim for precise plan vocabulary and natural collocations, such as “be converted into,” “remain in their current positions” and “facilities.” Proofread spelling and avoid repeating “new” and “addition” when one precise expression will do.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some complex sentence forms, including contrasts with “while” and “although,” and the main message is usually understandable. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in basic sentence construction and agreement. Examples include “university’s sports centre” without an article, “Changing room will remain,” “many room will remain,” and “will be remove.” There are also problems with possessives and sentence boundaries, as in “it's original location” and the lowercase “on the other hand” after a full stop. Practise accurate articles, plural agreement, possessive forms and passive constructions (“will be removed”). Shorter, carefully checked sentences would help make the comparisons clearer.
