Student answer (Band 5.5)
well, in this drawing there is university sports area, and they are planning to renovate the centre and, also add some other places in it.
overall, the reception, pool, changing room, seating, and gym remains at the same place but they expand the area of the gym. at the area of outdoor courts they planned to reconstruct it with sports hall, and at the right, of the sports hall they include the two dacing studio and attached changing room at the bottom corner of the sports hall, and the left of changing room there is a cafe.
furthermore, if we take look at the left side of the pool, and changing room they inserted leisure room instead of the outdoor courts and at the bottom corner of leisure room they plan a changing room and at the right of the changing room there is a sports shop.
so the first design was basic and they plannig to rennovate it added alot of others area.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response identifies the main change: the centre will expand into the former outdoor-court areas and gain several new facilities. It also reports that the pool, reception, seating and central changing room remain in place, and describes additions on both sides, so the key comparison is addressed. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: the future plan has a leisure pool, not a “leisure room,” and the café is in the south-east corner, not to the left of the changing room. The sports hall is east of the seating, while the two studios are farther east. The overview is present but broad; a more precise summary of the expansion and the main new facilities would make the information more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has an overall structure, moving from an opening statement to an overview and then descriptions of the eastern and western sides. This helps the reader follow the broad comparison. However, progression is weakened by the long, loosely connected sentences and repeated location phrases such as “at the right,” “at the bottom corner,” and “at the left.” The final sentence repeats the general idea that the centre will be renovated rather than adding a clear concluding comparison. Some references are also difficult to follow, particularly “the left of changing room” and “the right of the changing room,” because the relevant rooms are not consistently identified. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and each side, and connect locations with more precise references.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some relevant vocabulary for describing plans, including “renovate,” “expand,” “instead of,” and “at the same place.” This gives it enough basic language to communicate the main changes. However, the range is limited and several choices are imprecise or unnatural, such as “sports area,” “other places,” “reconstruct it with sports hall,” and “leisure room” for “leisure pool.” Spelling errors, including “dacing,” “plannig,” “rennovate,” and “alot,” are noticeable and reduce accuracy. Aim for precise facility names and standard map-description phrases, such as “will be replaced by,” “will be added,” and “to the east of.” Proofreading would also help prevent avoidable spelling slips.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
There are attempts to combine ideas using clauses and sequencing expressions, and the reader can generally understand the intended comparison. However, sentence structures are often awkward or incomplete, and errors in agreement, articles and verb forms recur. For example, “the reception, pool, changing room, seating, and gym remains” needs a plural verb, while “they planned to reconstruct it with sports hall” has an unclear subject and article use. The opening, “there is university sports area,” also lacks an article. Several sentences run on through multiple location details, making grammatical relationships harder to follow. Practise writing shorter, controlled sentences with a clear subject and verb, then add accurate location clauses such as “A café will be built south of the sports hall.”
