Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify several relevant facilities and note that the future centre will add a leisure pool, sports hall, dance studios, café and shop. However, the response only partly reports the plans: it gives no clear overview of the main transformation, such as the building expanding over the outdoor courts, and it does not describe where most new facilities are located. Some details are inaccurate or unclear: the current plan has one changing room, while the future plan has three, but the phrase “three changing room” does not make the comparison precise; the gym also remains and extends eastward. The opening comments about sport and personality do not help summarise the visual information. Focus on the major spatial changes and compare the present and future layouts more directly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic sequence, moving from an introduction to current facilities and then to future additions. Linking phrases such as “In addition to this” and “As compared to” help signal relationships between ideas. However, the progression is not consistently clear because several facilities are grouped together without explaining their positions or how the layout changes. The opening general statements also interrupt the move into the plan description, and the final comparison is not fully developed. Organise the report around an overview followed by a paragraph on the existing layout and one on the redevelopment. Use references such as “on the western side” and “in the south-east” to connect details clearly rather than relying mainly on additive transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “outdoor courts,” “25m swimming pool,” “leisure pool,” “sports hall” and “dance studios,” so the reader can identify many of the facilities. There is also an attempt to vary wording with “comprises” and “incorporates.” However, several choices are inaccurate or awkward for a plan description, including “development in universities sport center” and “basic facilities,” while “extra curricular activities” is not a precise description of the layout. Spelling errors such as “convinent” and “accomodate” are noticeable. Aim for precise spatial language and accurate facility names, and check spelling and collocations. This would make the vocabulary more flexible and appropriate to an IELTS map report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, for example, “In addition to this it also incorporates a sports hall and two dance studios which enables the students to enjoy extra curricular activities.” Meaning is generally recoverable, but errors occur in basic sentence control and agreement. Examples include “This plan also illustrate” and “facilities … includes,” where the verb does not agree with its subject, and “their is” instead of “there is.” The sentence about the future plan also has an unclear construction: “The future plan also accomodate a 25m swimming pool along with a leisure pool.” Work on subject–verb agreement, articles and sentence boundaries, and punctuate introductory phrases. More accurate control of these patterns would make your descriptions easier to follow.
